New Health Centre ‘will open on time’

Construction work on the new Ballymena Health and Care Centre is progressing well and is expected to be completed by next May, the Health Minister has said.

Edwin Poots’s confirmation that the new centre at Cushendall Road is expected to open to the public in the summer of 2015 came in response to a written question calling for an update on the project from UUP MLA Robin Swann.

Mr Swann asked the DUP Health Minister to ensure that the centre “opens on schedule next year”.

Responding, the Minister said he was “pleased to confirm that construction work on the new Ballymena Health and Care Centre is progressing well on site and is expected to complete in May 2015”.

He added: “Upon completion of the construction works the Trust will require a short period to commission the building and move services from their current location to the new health centre. It is expected that the new health and care centre will open to the public in the summer of 2015.”
