Resurfacing of the road in the vicinity of Chapel Road is expected to be complete by Sunday 12 October.

Whilst the Department’s resource budget for activities such as routine maintenance is severely reduced, funding for this scheme is from the capital budget for major projects and new road schemes which is less affected by the current pressures.

Mr Kennedy said: “This scheme will deliver long term improvements for everyone in Lisburn with road users in particular being among the first to directly benefit from the investment.”

Works will be underway daily between 9.30am and 4.00pm.

To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors it will be necessary to close one lane.

Traffic management will be in operation on the site.

Full closures from 6am to 6pm on Sundays will be necessary and well signposted diversions will be in operation.

Transport NI has carefully planned the improvements, works operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience to road users, however, drivers should expect delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the area.
