Greenisland Baptist Church has once again partnered with charity Christians Against Poverty (CAP) to begin a Job Club.

“We’re really excited to be offering this new service to the people of Carrickfergus,” said CAP Centre Manager Jacqui Robb.

Unemployment is one of the main causes of debt and poverty, and we have seen the difference it makes to a household when a family member finds work again.

“Our debt centre has been a real hit with many people who thought there was no way out of their financial crisis.

“We want to bring the hope to people who are seeking employment, something that can feel like a lonely, up-hill struggle when you’re on your own.”

The club includes sessions on creating a winning CV, perfecting interview techniques and how to effectively search for work.

“We will run one-to-one support, guidance and mentoring to really get alongside people and find out what we can do to help and I think that’s what will really differentiate us from other job clubs,” Jacqui added.

Greenisland Baptist Church’s CAP Job Club is one of 83 across the UK, with each church team trained and by the acclaimed charity and supported by its resources.

Sessions will take place on a Tuesday from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at Greenisland Baptist Church.
