New jobs at Distillery

Bushmills Distillery has received planning permission for an extension which will create 15-20 new jobs.

The application for a new distillery facility including boiler house and cooling equipment was approved by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Planning Committee on Wednesday.

There was one petition of objection and one petition of support lodged in respect of the application by Juno Planning and Environmental Ltd on behalf of the Distillery.

Committee members heard the Distillery has an annual turnover of £40 million and employs 150 full time staff, with a wage bill of £3 million per year.

There is planned capital expenditure of £3 million per year over the next 10-15 years with £30 million capital expenditure on the new distillery facility. Members heard that this will create 15-20 jobs.
