New look leisure centre re-opens
THE new look Craigavon Leisure Centre was officially re-opened by the Mayor, Samuel Gardiner, in January 1989.
Guests were treated to a carnival type atmosphere with a jazz band helping to make the night an enjoyable one.
All of the speakers on the night were full of praise for the team who worked in the centre, not only the overall improvement in the standard but also the new look.
After the opening guests were taken on a tour of the centre, staff pointing out the many improvements and additions which, at the time, made the complex the jewel in Craigavon’s recreational crown.
