New map includes Protestant heritage

KEY sites of Protestant culture and heritage have been included in a new illuustrated visitor map of the City launched yesterday, Tuesday, by the chairman of the Derry Visitor and Convention Bureau, Mayor Colum Eastwood.

In addition to St Columb’s Cathedral and First Derry Presbyterian Church, the map features other key sites such as the Guildhall, Craft Village and City Centre shopping sites, but crucially, also includes the Waterside, featuring Ebrington Barracks site, Ebrington Centre, Waterside Theatre and the new Peace Bridge.

Launching the map, the Mayor said "I am delighted to launch this unique visitor map which showcases the city's historical and cultural assets and complements DVCB'scurrent portfolio of publications".

In addition to traditional and modern tourist locations, thenew visitor map contains information on tours, accommodation, restaurants, pubs, shopping,leisure andtravelinformation on both sides of the river.

“The map is an essentialcompanionnot only for all visitors to the citybut also the local population. It will be distributed to all DVCB members, Tourist Information Centres throughout Ireland, Tourism Ireland offices around theworld and it will become an integral part of ourvisitor information literature when promoting the destination at shows and exhibitions in the lead up to UK City of Culture 2013,” said the Mayor.

Thevisitormap isfree ofcharge and copies are available from the Tourist Information Centre, 44 Foyle Street.
