New minister arrives at the
Kilwarlin Moravian Church

Originally from Jamaica, Rev Livingstone Thompson assumed pastoral charge of the Kilwarlin Moravian Church on September 1, 2015, succeeding Rev Patsy Holdsworth who was transferred to Bristol area in England.

For many years Rev Thompson served in the pastoral ministry of the Moravian Church in Jamaica, where he also led the Jamaican Province of the Moravian Church as President. His current assignment also includes responsibility for the University Road Moravian Church in Belfast

In addition to a wealth pastoral experience, Rev Thompson is an experienced intercultural trainer with specialties across a variety of corporate fields. He taught at Trinity College Dublin, supervised postgraduate research at All Hallows College and Dublin City University and was external graduate examiner for a graduate programme at the University of the West Indies.

Dr Thompson has also served as an expert member of several national and international organisations in the fields of cultural diversity.

His international speaking engagements in the fields of diplomacy, culture and religion have taken him to a number of countries, conferences and educational institutions.

Livingstone has developed and anchored radio programmes and written extensively as a columnist for a leading Caribbean newspaper. He is author of several books and peer-reviewed articles. His professional involvement includes serving as president of the Society for Intercultural Education, Training and Research (SIETAR) Europe.

In his 20years of involvement pastoral ministry, education and training at local and international levels, From this extensive experience, gained in cross-cultural contexts, he brings empathy and understanding to new assignment in Kilwarlin. His priorities will include growing the congregation, developing the historic site on which the church is located and building ecumenical relations in the area.
