New minister welcomed at Railway Street

This was conducted by Dromore Presbytery Commission and the packed congregation included many friends and family from Rev Davidson’s former congregations in Drumgooland and Kilkinamurry, as well as friends from his earlier days in First Antrim, Saintfield Road and Newtownbreda Baptist.

Rev Dr Bert Tosh gave a reading, and Rev Paul Jamieson of Hillhall preached on the meaning of the Church.

Rev McLernon spoke of the congregation’s sense of excitement and anticipation as they step forward into the future with their new minister.

Tributes were paid to Rev Davidson by representatives of his former congregations, who commended him as a faithful pastor, shepherd and friend.

Railway Street Clerk of Session, Mr Roger Thompson, thanked all who had helped during the vacancy, particularly Rev McLernon for his dedication and support.

Presentations of gifts and flowers were made to Rev Davidson, his wife Linda and family, and to Rev McLernon, his wife Judith and family, by members of the congregation.

This was followed by a presentation to Roger and his wife Lis in recognition of their devoted service during the vacancy.

Rev Davidson then addressed his new congregation, assuring them of his recognition of the honour done to him by their call to service.

He looked forward to working together with them to seek God’s vision for Railway Street and the wider sphere of Lisburn in the coming days.
