New moderator of Derry and Donegal

A RAPHOE minister has become the new Moderator of the Presbytery of Derry and Donegal.

The Rev Dr Brian Brown, Minister of Raphoe and Ballindrait has taken over the post from Londonderry vicar Rev Dr Joseph

Fell.

Dr Brown thanked Dr Fell for his energy, humour and the experience he brought to the position of Moderator at an event last week.

"I thank the Presbytery for the honour they have given by electing me," he added.

Dr Fell thanked the Clerk, Rev Stanley Stewart for all the hard work he put in and said: "I believe the Presbytery by ordaining Ministers

and Elders is doing something significant.

"It represents the Presbyterian Church in nearly the whole of the North West of Ireland and in this post-conflict, post-modernist age where there is a lot of disillusion, we have the task of bringing the good news of life eternal."

The Presbytery nominated Rev Norman Hamilton, Ballysillan, Belfast as Moderator of the General Assembly. He received nominations from ten other Presbyteries and is to take up the post in June.
