New Mossley marks start of WW1

New Mossley Community Group has thanked those who attended its special events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of WW1.

The recent weekend of events kicked off in style with an American-themed senior citizens’ tea dance at New Mossley Elim Church.

The following day, David McCallion from War Years Remembered gave a series of demonstrations and educational talks that interested young and old alike.

The weekend of events concluded with a service of remembrance at New Mossley Elim Church.

“It was a great weekend and we were pleased with the good turnout,” said Community Group representative Jack Shaw.

“I would like to thank Pastor Frank Silo and the Elim Church for hosting the events, Newtownabbey Council and the BRIC (Building Relationships in Communities) initiative for their support, David from War Years Remembered for his efforts and the members of the group who helped with the organisation and running of
the events.”
