New Moyle Youth Strategy group

OVER the past number of months NEELB Youth Service have initiated a Ballycastle Youth Strategy group to discuss youth related issues, improve communication between youth groups and to explore ways to develop provision.

At the most recent meeting in May the group agreed that it might be worthwhile extending the remit across the whole Moyle Council Area to become Moyle Youth Strategy Group. The group currently have representatives from:

* NEELB Youth Service

* Moyle Community Safety Partnership

* Moyle Youth Council

* Ballycastle High School YC

* Ballycastle Youth Drop-in

* Moyle Gateway Youth

The next meeting is planned for 28th June but Tommy Dallas the NEELB Area Youth Officer has agreed to invite representation from all the registered youth groups across Moyle. Issue discussed at recent meetings include:

* Improving transport for developing youth programmes

* Club Q Youth events

* Promoting Moyle Youth Council to ensure greater representation

* Improving PR for youth work in the area

* Addressing the problem of the lack of volunteers in youth work

* Youth Work training courses 2010/11
