New mural

ENAGH Youth Forum (EYF) - made up of young people from Strathfoyle and Maydown - has been very busy over the past two months taking part in the “reaching out” project and creating a bright new mural.

The project continues to grow from strength to strength and focuses on two key themes - active citizenship and social empowerment.

Young people have removed all graffiti within the local community and this was supported by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) who provided the forum with paint and other materials.

The forum then teamed up with Elaine Forde (International Culture Arts Network) ICAN Co-ordinator at the Playhouse who supported local artist Karl Porter to collaborate with the young people.

“Collectively we have created this great mural, which has been inspired by the local area which depicts Strathfoyle reaching out to other communities in the city. This project has had a positive community response locally and is pride of place within Strathfoyle,” said Paul Hughes of EYF.
