New planfor dairy

DRINKS-MAKER Niche Drinks Ltd. has applied for permission to convert its liqueur factory at Rossdowney Road into a supermarket before moving to another site in Campsie to revive Londonderry’s whiskey making tradition.

An application has been lodged with the local planning service for conversion of the old Leckpatrick dairy site at the corner of the Dungiven and Rossdowney Roads.

The current plant will be demolished to make way for “a mixed use re-development to include a food superstore with ancillary non-food, local service units, business start up units and retention of existing former school building as creche, access from Rossdowney Road, car parking, servicing and associated landscaping.”

“Niche Drinks is seeking to re-locate to a new site which will permit its expansion, it is exploring sites in Derry at present and the purpose of this application is to enable Niche Drinks to maximise its investment in its new plant.

“As the Department is currently completing its consideration of retailing in Derry at a broad level and our client wishes this proposal to be considered we are submitting an outline application comprising,” it states.
