New play area opens in Anahilt

ANAHILT: A new state of the art play area has been completed at Anahilt.

Councillor Thomas Beckett, Chairman of Lisburn Council’s Leisure Services Committee, said the new play area had been completed within the set timescale and would form an important part of the local community.

“As a parent, I understand the importance of children developing skills such as socialising. This new Council play area provides just such an opportunity” he said.

“I hope those children who use the Anahilt Play Area will gain self-esteem and confidence, both of which are important in adult life. It is a great place for children to retreat to and relax after a busy day or perhaps expend some energy to make life more relaxing for the parents or childminders.

“This play area is the latest capital development project to be completed by the Council and I would like to thank the Lagan Rural Partnership under DARD’s Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme 2007-2013 for providing essential funding to this project,” he concluded.

A council spokesperson urged all residents and visitors to treat the new play area with respect as the facilities were provided for the enjoyment of everyone.
