New post for former council chief

Former Banbridge District Council chief executive Robert Gilmore (above)has been appointed as an independent member of the Board of the Department for Regional Development. He will take up his initial three-year post on January 1, 2015.

Currently a self-employed Public Sector management consultant, he is also an Associate Consultant for Solace Enterprises and a non-executive director of Banbridge District Enterprises.

Mr Gilmore was Banbridge Council Chief Executive from 1989 – 2007. He has been a Non-Executive Director of the Health and Social Care Board since April 2009 and is a member of its Audit and Risk Committee; he has undertaken no political activities.

Making the appointment, Minister Danny Kennedy said he knew Mr Gilmore wouldbring wide experience to the work of the Department and fresh objective viewpoints to assist and advise on development of its business and strategic plans over the next three years.
