New post for Joan

MOYLE District Councillor Joan Baird, Ulster Unionist, is a new member of the North Eastern Education and Library Board.

Ms Baird is a retired housing manager and university lecturer who holds a Master of Science degree in Social Policy and Planning from the University of Ulster.

She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing and was previously an external examiner at the University of Northumbria.

She chairs the Clanmil Housing Association and has an interest in both pre-school and primary education.

Ms Baird commented: “Through my work in the University of Ulster and University of Northumbria I strongly believe that education is the path to a better way of life in every aspect.

“Leading out several Community Development strategies has reinforced my commitment to ensuring young children receive the best possible start to their educational experience.”

Ms Baird is a member of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and is keen on environmental conservation. Her hobbies include travel and gardening.
