The East Antrim branch of U3A - standing for University of the Third Age - covers the Carrick, Larne, Ballyclare and Newtownabbey areas.

It is one of 25 branches in the province and only the second to purchase a property, thanks to the generosity of one of its members.

“The committee and some members have helped bring about the renovation of the building which had lain empty for four years,” said Karen Shaw of East Antrim U3A. “We are now able to expand our groups for those who are retired and become members. It develops friendship for the lonely and interest groups for those looking for something to do.”
