New role for Beggs

EAST Antrim MLA Roy Beggs has been appointed Deputy Chairman of the Assembly's Agriculture and Rural Development committee.

Speaking from his home near Glenoe, the UUP man said he greatly valued the work ethic he gained while growing up on the family farm. “Agriculture, together with and the food and drinks industry, continue to provide a significant number of local jobs and its importance to the NI economy must be recognised, “ he added.

“In my new role as Deputy Chair of the Agriculture committee, I would hope that I will be able to add to the work of the committee in scrutinising both the agriculture sector and rural development policies of the Department."
