New role for former police chief

A former local police chief has been appointed as Assistant Chief Constable (ACC) of the PSNI

The Northern Ireland Policing Board appointed Chief Superintendent Alan Todd to the role.

Board Chair Anne Connolly said: “On behalf of the Board, I congratulate Alan on his success in this ACC appointment process.

“As part of the PSNI Service Executive Team he will play a leading role, working to ensure the policing needs of the community are met and helping Northern Ireland’s communities to become safer and stronger.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the other candidates who applied and wish them well in the future.”

Mr Todd had served as District Commander for Craigavon with a wealth of experience on the beat and as a high ranking investigator.

He has been with the police in both their guises since 1991.

He had also served in Newry and Mourne as superintendent and prior to that he had been detective chief inspector in Criminal Operations.

Mr Todd had served as a sergeant and inspector in Portadown in the late 90s.

Before that he was local district crime manager in Armagh.
