New stadium could be built by 2017

COLERAINE’S new state of the art sports stadium at Rugby Avenue could be in use by 2017, and Coleraine Football Club have agreed in principle to become anchor tenants.

It is hoped that the development, costing in the region of £43 million, could also see the return of the Milk Cup finals to Coleraine.

Described by Council as a ‘signature project’ the facility could boast a Leisure Centre, six-lane swimming pool, a learning pool, health suite, gym, studios, a main hall incorporating eight courts and an indoor soft play area.

Outdoor facilities planned for the site include a stadium pitch, which has been designed in conjuctione with Coleraine Football Club, a 4G multi use pitch, two 3G pitches, a synthetic hockey pitch, caged five-a-side and seven-a-side football facilities, a play area and commercial units.

What are your thoughts on the project?
