A spokesman from Pragma Planning said: “The scheme has two elements. Firstly the conversion of the Church into nine two-bedroom apartments which involves the retention of a full height feature entrance, the insertion of an upper floor into the interior of the building and new windows to match those existing on the exterior.

“The apartments will be served by their own discrete access from Ashley Park.

“Secondly, the erection of a 50 bedroom high quality modern care facility for Dementia patients situated on the lower ground to the south west of the Listed Church. The high quality of the design and materials of the new building complement the Listed Church and respects its setting.

“A new entrance will be provided from Ashley Park to serve it. Fundamental to the scheme has been the retention and enhancement of the existing on-site vegetation.”
