New visitor app is set to give tourism in 
Lisburn area a 
major boost

An exciting new App has been launched for ‘Visit Lisburn’ and will promote Tourism within Lisburn City Council area to local residents and key target markets of Scotland and the Republic of Ireland.

The free ‘Visit Lisburn’ app was developed by Brilliant Red in partnership with Lisburn City Council with funding received through Revitalisation Funding from the Department for Social Development.

Recent research into Visit Lisburn users has highlighted a 77% increase in visitors using mobile devices (smart phones) and 64% increase in visitor traffic via tablet devices (e.g.iPad).

At the touch of a button you can find out information from Shopping, Eating Out, Where to Stay and Visitor Attractions to your What’s On guide for the days ahead.

Speaking about the development, Chairman of Lisburn City Council’s Economic Development Committee, Alderman Allan Ewart, said: “It shows that Lisburn is moving with the digital age and embracing the use of technology for the benefit of both residents and our businesses.

“We hope everyone will download the app and make good use of it as a portal to everything that is happening in the area.”

Lynne McDonald from DSD said; “We are delighted to have supported such an innovative development in technology for the Lisburn area.

“This new app available for iPhone and Android smart phones will allow local businesses to highlight specific promotions and campaigns to visitors and locals alike.”
