New Walled Citywebsite launched

The Mayor said she was very impressed with the new website’s content and design, saying it was useful information tool for anyone interested in finding out more about the Partnership and the city’s historic assets.

“The website showcases the physical regeneration impact of the Walled City Partnership, through its Townscape Heritage Initiative, and highlights the achievements of the complementary education programme,” she said.

Mary McLaughlin said: “The regeneration impact of the Townscape Heritage Initiative is very evident by virtue of the 26 properties that have been repaired and restored to date with an overall investment value of £7.89 million.

“This regeneration scheme has helped to create improved and new city centre business and living accommodation as well as restoring the City’s rich stock of heritage buildings.”

The Walled City Partnership, with the support of its funding partners, Heritage Lottery Fund, Derry City Council, Department Social Development, DoE Planning NI, Northern Ireland Environment Agency continues to target further projects within the defined THI area of Shipquay Place, Foyle Street, Shipquay Street, Castle Street and Waterloo Street. The Walled City Partnership hopes to announce further significant developments early in the New Year.
