New Year honours for locals
Lisburn man Mr William Andrew John Hassard, Director of Parks and Leisure, Belfast City Council, has been awarded an MBE for services to Local Government.
Speaking about his honour Mr Hassard said: “Receiving this MBE was totally unexpected, but I could not be more delighted.
“I feel that, in a large measure, I owe the award to the many colleagues at Belfast City Council and partners in other agencies whom I have worked with over the years.
“I am really looking forward to sharing the whole experience of the visit to Buckingham Palace with my extremely supportive family,” he added.
