New Youth Leadership Programme

A new Youth Leadership Programme which gives young people aged 15 to 25, the opportunity to lead their peers in working towards a peaceful and stable society has been launched.

The Future Leaders programme, which is lead by the Northern Ireland Youth Forum and is funded under the European Union's PEACE III programme managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by the North East PEACE III Partnership, will give young people to opportunity to not only develop skills but put them to use by designing and delivering a summer intervention programme with a budget of 2000.

The Future Leaders Programme will provide the opportunity for 60 young people from across the Coleraine, Ballymena, Ballymoney, Larne, Limavady and Moyle areas to establish local 'Youth Leadership Groups' in each of the six council areas.

"Not only will participants get the chance to gain accredited training and make a positive contribution to their communities, but they will meet other young people, and have some fun along the way. The Northern Ireland Youth Forum are extremely excited about continuing our work in this area."
