Newbuildings pupils visit Stormont

PUPILS from P6 and P7 at Newbuildings Primary School had a an enjoyable and informative trip to Stormont on Thursday of last week.

Accompanied by staff for their visit to ‘the House on the hill’, the pupils visited Stormont to learn about the workings of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

On arrival they met the Speaker, Mr William Hay, who explained his role to the pupils and answered questions.

Mr Hay, who lives in Londonderry, is a former pupil of Newbuildings Primary School as is another MLA, Mr Nigel Dodds.

“Everyone had a really enjoyable day and gained a great insight into the running of our country,” said school principal Chris Scholes.
