NI Railways services on August 11th for Apprentice Boys parade

TRANSLINK NI Railways is advising Coleraine passengers travelling to Londonderry on Saturday for the Apprentice Boys parades that bus services carrying parade supporters to and from the city will be terminating at Waterside station, while all other scheduled bus substitution services on the day will pick up and drop off at Foyle Street Bus Station.

This will be the first major event in the city since the Derry-Coleraine line was closed on July 29th until April 2013 for track maintenance and upgrade activity.

During this time, a revised timetable (bus substitution services) will operate between Derry~Londonderry and Coleraine.

Translink also reminds passengers that they will not be permitted to carry alcohol on-board services and that those found to be carrying alcohol will have it confiscated by members of the rail team.

Rail Route Manager, Frank Moore said, “We will be operating additional buses on August 11th to accommodate the increased passenger numbers travelling to and from the parades on the day.

“In order to ensure that everyone enjoys the day and to avoid incidences of antisocial behaviour, passengers found to be carrying alcohol will have it confiscated by members of the rail team. We will be working closely in partnership with the PSNI and will have extra security staff at Coleraine and Londonderry stations to help enforce the ban.”
