N.I Soul Troop at the Atlantic Bar, Portrush

N.I Soul Troop are coming to the Atlantic Bar and Lounge in Portrush this Saturday

Belfast’s first original eight piece soul band was originally formed in 2007 as a four piece meeting through college.

They have been causing a stir on the Belfast circuit while growing in members and hope to soon form a soul troop big band!

Using soul music as their basis they also incorporate elements of funk, ska, jazz, blues and rock‘n’roll, delivering an irresistible brew of original songs fronted by a talented male-female vocal duo.

Their influences include Sly and the Family Stone, Bill Withers, Aretha, Otis, Marv, Bob Marley, The Skatalites, Jimmy Cliff, Parliament Funkadelic, anything George Clinton touches, Jamie Lidell, James Brown, Marlena Shaw and the list goes on and on!

The visit of the soul troop marks the first live band hosted by Antidote Soundsystem at the Atlantic Bar and Lounge following refurbishments, and marks the return of live music to the venue in the most spectacular of fashion.

The band will play two 45 minute sets on the night with support from Antidote resident DJ’s playing an eclectic mix of reggae, funk, soul and hip hop rarities.
