NI21 gets first election campaign underway

The party has launched 47 candidates to contest eight of the eleven new council boundaries for Northern Ireland in the upcoming elections on May 22, including twelve in the Lisburn area.

Andrew Doran and David Cairns will contest Lisburn South; Colin McCord and Jonathan McCarthy will stand in Lisburn North; Glenn Wilson and Christina Dobson will stand in Downshire East; Neil McNickle and Roger Duncan will stand in Downshire West and David Honeyford will stand in Killultagh.

Speaking after the launch Lisburn business man Colin McCord, Chair of Lagan Valley NI21, said: “The twelve new candidates put forward by NI21 for Lisburn and Castlereagh are new to politics. We came together from various walks of life as we are totally frustrated with the direction that politics has taken in Northern Ireland, both in Stormont and at local council level.

“Not being the product of party machines we have been able to identify with the real needs of friends and colleagues and, through NI21, combine our efforts to attempt to bring normal everyday issues to the forefront of local government.

“NI21 is a new party brought about by the current state of politics in Northern Ireland in which little is achieved and is constantly being bogged down with sectarian politics and politicians.

“The people of Lisburn and Castlereagh deserve better. People should aspire to better and give change a chance.”
