NIE said no one in danger after explosion at Lurgan sub station
Shirley Devlin, customer relations manager, said NIE teams responded immediately to a power cut on Sunday night. “Equipment within the secure grounds of an electricity substation failed at 23.22 and left 1,669 properties without power. Residents in the area may have heard a loud bang.
“Emergency crews worked into the night to assess the damage and restored electricity to the majority of properties by 00.43 and the remaining 230 homes by 02.35. As in all such cases, NIE will be fully investigating the cause of the fault.

DUP Councillor Carla Lockhart said she was flooded with reports that the electricity was off in the Mourneview, Grey Estate, Gilford Road, and as far out as Waringtown. She has called for an investigation and assurances that it will not happen again.
