NIHE staff step out in support of Marie Curie

HOUSING Executive staff in Twickenham House have taken part for the sixth consecutive year in a sponsored walk at Ballymena’s Ecos Centre to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

With the help and generosity of their colleagues and friends, participants have this year raised a record £1,514 for the charity, bringing the total over the past six years to more than £7,100.

While the walk, organized by staff in the North East Housing Benefit Unit, is one of the highlights of the fundraising year, a range of other local events has enabled an additional £1,092 to be donated by the Unit to local charities in the past year.

In addition, North East staff also contribute generously to wider fundraising campaigns organised as part of the Housing Executive’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme, such as the Hours Pay and Give As You Earn campaigns, with all proceeds going to help with the vital work carried out by charities in communities across Northern Ireland and further afield.

Heather Miller, Community Fundraiser, North, Marie Curie Cancer Care thanked the Housing Executive for this latest donation: “The support we receive year on year from Housing Executive staff is terrific and very much appreciated. Their generosity really makes a difference, helping Marie Curie Cancer Care provide vital services and care, free of charge, to terminally ill patients across the local area.”
