No cigarettes sales to 'test' child

ALL 13 premises visited in the Moyle Council area as part of a tobacco test purchase exercise refused to sell cigarettes or lighter fuel to a child.

The test purchase exercise was carried out in respect of the under-age sale of tobacco and volatile substances i.e. cigarette lighter refills on March 27.

A Moyle Council report said: ‘The purpose of the exercise was to check the level of compliance with the law on the sale of such goods. Thirteen randomly selected premises across the district were visited and an attempt was made by a child to purchase tobacco at six premises and cigarette lighter refills at seven premises. All premises refused sales.’
