No discrimination against Cloughmills - Roads chief

A ROADS Service official has rejected any suggestion that the Cloughmills area is not treated as fairly as other districts when it comes to re-surfacing roads.

John McKinley was speaking at a meeting of Ballymoney Council where Cloughmills Sinn Fein councillor Cathal McLaughlin said only one kilometre of road way in the Cloughmills area out of 100 kilometres of roads across the Ballymoney Borough had work carried out on them.

Cllr McLaughlin wondered if it was perhaps because he and fellow Cloughmills councillor, the DUP’s John Finlay, were “not shouting loud enough”.

But Mr McKinley said: “I have been called many things but one thing I have not been called is unfair.”

He said they have criteria and roads are targeted on a needs basis.

But Mr McKinley added: “It is not he who shouts loudest gets most but the roads that need it most.”
