No 'doggy paddle' for Riverside duo

TWO members of staff from Riverside Veterinary Clinic really made a splash last week when they took part in a Swimathon.

Nigel Johnston, owner of the Veterinary Clinic at Acorn Business Centre and receptionist Melanie Hunter swam 1.5km (64 lengths) of the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre pool to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Speaking to the Times, Melanie of Ballybogey Road explained: “There were many other swimmers taking part in the event which was great to see.

“Both Nigel and myself decided to take part to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. It is such a worthwhile charity and something we felt passionate about.

“We would really like to thank everyone who supported us, especially staff and clients from Riverside. So far we have raised 357 which is a fantastic achievement and something we all are proud of.”
