‘No-one did itlike Martin’

The Rev. Dr. David Latimer of First Derry said the late Martin McCrossan unravelled our complex story with skill and style.

The local Minister said he was shocked to learn of Martin’s death whilst away from his home in the city.

“It was with great sadness I learned of Martin McCrossan’s sudden and very unexpected death,” he said.

“Martin was a great ambassador for the city of his birth. He unravelled the complex story of our city’s painful past with impressive skill and unique style,” he added.

“Moreover, he derived considerable delight informing tourists, from around the world, how the dawn light of a bright brand new day had appeared over the town he both loved so well and passionately promoted.

“Nobody could do it quite like Martin. He did it his way and for that he will be fondly remembered by multitudes,” he said.

Martin’s daughter, Charlene, speaking on behalf of her mum Sharon, and sister, Christina said they wanted to thank everyone for their kind words.

“There are just so many messages as my daddy was so loved by everyone and we really do appreciate them,” she said.

Many people from the city took to social media sites describing Martin as a legend, an ambassador, and a true son of Londonderry.

And on Friday night, the Playhouse was lit up bright yellow in Martin’s honour.
