No swing to the right for Eglinton drivers

DRIVERS are not allowed to turn right for the rest of the spring and summer on a number of roads in Eglinton.

As work continues on the A2 road project between Londonderry and Limavady, the Department of Regional Development (DRD) has given notice that drivers can't turn right from a number of roads in the area.

Roads Service advise cars travelling from Limavady along the Clooney Road are not allowed to turn right onto the McLean Road; cars travelling on the McLean road are not allowed to turn right onto the Clooney Road; and cars travelling on the Coolafinney Road are not allowed to turn right onto the Clooney Road. Traffic is also prohibited travelling from Coolafinney Road to McClean Road and vice versa.

DRD state that these restrictions - live since Monday - will be in place until September 12, 2010.

"The Department for Regional Development is satisfied that traffic should be restricted or prohibited to facilitate construction of the new A2 dualling works.

"Traffic signs warning that the use of the road is subject to the above restrictions and to indicate the nature and extent of the restriction will be erected on the road," the notice states.
