‘No tree infections’ at Jubilee Wood

ASH tree saplings at Whitehead’s Jubilee Wood have been given the all-clear for ash dieback disease, Carrick councillors have been assured.

At a meeting of the Parks, Countryside and Amenities Sub-Committee last month, elected representatives were told the saplings had been inspected on two occasions with no infections found.

With previous reports suggesting the disease had spread from Europe, Parks and Countryside Officer Stephen Daye indicated the trees had been purchased from UK and Irish stock only, as this had been a requirement to obtain the Forest Service grant received.
