Noisy late night revellers under fire after band parades

LATE night revellers have come under fire in Ballymoney following claims of loud noise in the town following recent band parades.

Allegations of boisterous behaviour after 11pm were brought up a meeting of the local District Policing Partnership on Thursday afternoon.

One member told the meeting of cars tooting their horns, people shouting up the street and others playing instruments after band parades.

The disgruntled member asked if anything could be done by police to curb the problem.

A police spokesman replied that officers could not make people attending parades go straight home afterwards.

However, he added that if individuals were causing a disturbance to residents police would look into it.

DPP member Joe Donaghy said he did not believe anyone causing a disturbance was doing so maliciously.

PSNI Chief Insp John Magill said: "I will certainly take those points away."
