Nominations being sought for city’s worthy volunteers

Know a volunteer group which deserves to be nominated for the prestigious Queen’s Award for Volunteering?

The Lord Lieutenant, Denis Desmond CBE, the Province’s representative for the ‘Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service’ and ‘Volunteer Now’ is inviting potential nominators and interested groups to come along to an information evening to find out more at the Central Library on Foyle Street, tomorrow, Thursday, March 13, at 6.30pm.

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest civil Award given to local volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work done in their own communities. Any group undertaking volunteer work that provides a social, economic or environmental service to the local community can be nominated for the Award.

Nominations are open for the Award at any time, there is no deadline, however, Awards are published in June each year.

Further information sessions are being organised.
