Nominations now accepted for Junior awards

NOMINATIONS are now being accepted for the Banbridge District Junior Sports Awards 2009.

Organised by Banbridge District Sports Association in association with the Council, these awards recognise the wealth of young sporting talent in the district and celebrate the achievements of young people who excel in their chosen sports.

The awards were recently launched at the premises of new sponsor, Donaghy’s Shoefair Sports in Banbridge. The well known local stockist of top branded sportswear is sponsoring the awards in partnership with Intersport.

Nominees are being sought for the five categories of Female Youth, Male Youth, Junior Team (under 12), Youth Team (12 and over) and Special Olympians.Nominations forms are available from several local outlets, including the Civic Building, Banbridge Leisure Centre, Rathfriland Community Centre, Dromore Community Centre and Donaghy’s Shoefair Sports. Alternatively, the nomination form can be downloaded from the Council website at www.banbridge.gov.uk.

All completed forms must be returned to the Banbridge District Sports Association at the Civic Building before 5pm on Friday 19 March 2010. For further information about these awards, contact the Council’s Community and Enterprise Services Department on 4066 0605.

- ON Wednesday night the District’s top sportsmen and women will meat in the Belmont Hotel to find out who has taken the honours in the Banbridge District Senior Sports Awards. The event gets underway at 7.30pm.
