“I am hoping to recognise them as part of the Council’s plans to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s own celebrations as a local dimension to national activities.

“I would also point out that Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is encouraging groups within the Borough to make application for one of our Small Event Grants as may be appropriate to help mark Her Majesty’s birthday on April 21 and the period leading up to the Official Birthday celebrations in June,” he said.

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council’s Grant Support Scheme can be viewed at http://www.midandeastantrim.gov.uk/community/grants/grants where an application can be made directly for a small event, or by calling 028 2563 3148 or 028 9335 8240 or by emailing [email protected]

Family members or 90–year-olds themselves should contact the Mayor’s Office, telephone 028 2563 5059 or email [email protected] to make themselves known as soon as possible.
