Norman is named top safety rep for 2012

A LARNE man has been crowned Northern Ireland’s top safety representative for 2012.

Norman Gray was presented with the accolade by the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) and the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU). The award recognises the contribution made by health and safety representatives to the safety of employees in the workplace.

Norman, who works for the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, received his award at a seminar organised by the Northern Ireland Committee of the ICTU at UNISON headquarters in Belfast.

At the presentation, chairman of HSENI George Lucas congratulated Norman on his achievement and praised the level of commitment and professionalism shown by all the candidates.

He said: “Norman represents the very best qualities required to be an outstanding health and safety representative.”

Peter Bunting, assistant General Secretary of the ICTU added: “Well done Norman on winning your most deserved award.

“On behalf of Northern Ireland’s trade union movement I applaud all health and safety representatives like you who help make our workplaces safe for all workers.”
