Norman is on his way again

AFTER being grounded in Thailand for three months, Larne adventurer Norman Surplus has finally resumed his epic round-the-world journey.

The 47-year-old father-of-two, who set off from Sandy Bay back in March, is aiming to become the first person to fly around the world in an gyrocopter.

His 27,000 mile expedition suffered a major setback in May after he crashed into a Thai lake, causing serious damage to the aircraft. What was expected to be a two week delay soon turned into a nightmare of bureaucratic and logistical complications.

But after painstaking repairs and a long wait for approval from the Civil Aviation Authority, the intrepid pilot has finally managed to get his gyrocopter back in the air.
