Northern Trust mark achievement of children and young people in foster care

The Northern Health and Social Care Trust (NHSCT) have recently held an awards ceremony celebrating the achievements of children and young people in foster care.

The event which was attended by over 60 children, 50 carers and social workers acknowledged the children in care for their outstanding achievements whilst going through a difficult period in their lives. The event recognised their academic, sports, group and personal achievements.

Many of the awards recognised children for their sporting achievements in international football, including a young person who represented his local football club which went on to win a match in Sweden. Another young person was recognised for their achievement in the Paralympics.

Marie Roulston, Assistant Director Looked After Children, commended all the children on their achievements and thanked the foster carers and kinship carers for the dedication they showed to the children in an extremely demanding but rewarding role that at times can be unnoticed and un recognised.

Eilish Scott, Foster Recruitment and Initial Assessment Team, who co-ordinated the event said: ”If fostering and supporting a child through a difficult time is something you would consider, please contact the NHSCT Recruitment and Initial Assessment Team on 0300 123 11 55. The Northern Trust now offers fee paid schemes to foster carers of £13,000 and £18,000.”
