Northern Trust pays tribute to Rhoda Baxter

THE Northern Trust have been celebrating the achievements of one of their staff members.

Earlier this summer, Rhoda Baxter, manager of the Pavestone Centre in Coleraine, was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Having worked in the Trust for over 20 years, the local woman was an Occupational Therapist at Coleraine Hospital before being appointed to her current role at the Pavestone Centre.

Geraldine Fleming, Assistant Director of Physical Health and Disability was full of praise for Rhoda: “Rhoda has used her expertise and interest in vocational rehabilitation and created programmes in Pavestone to help disabled people to re-enter the workplace, often following injuries which might be considered catastrophic.

“Rhoda is an inspiration; she works tirelessly fundraising and dedicating her spare time to working with people with disabilities.

“She makes a real difference to their lives”.

Rhoda’s personal vision and energy has created positive outcomes for many individuals who may otherwise be displaced or marginalised.

One example is the highly successful social business, F MacCool & Co, which produces high quality craft products inspired by the local landscape and the Causeway Coast, which have won numerous awards for design.

Oscar Donnelly, Director of Mental Health and Disability Services, Northern Trust added: “Rhoda has a passionate belief that every person, regardless of impairment or disability, has something to offer and she has devoted her life to enabling others to achieve their full potential.

“We are delighted that she has been recognised for this.”
