Northern trust seeks your views on good relations strategy

The strategy is also aimed at ensuring staff feel valued and respected irrespective of their race, religion or political opinion.

The trust developed the draft strategy by consulting with staff, service users and local communities and says their views helped shape the plan.

Alison Irwin, Head of Equality, Northern Trust, said: “The strategy builds on what the trust has achieved and demonstrates a top level commitment to good relations. Every member of trust staff shares a responsibility to promote good relations and the trust must support them to understand what they are required to do in order to uphold the commitment.

“We know that the people who use our services come from many different cultures, communities, and backgrounds. Being responsive to the diverse range of needs in the trust area is a responsibility we take very seriously. We want to provide welcoming, person-centred and accessible services for everyone.”

The trust wishes to consult as widely as possible on the strategy. The consultation period runs for 16 weeks. Comments on all aspects of the strategy are welcome and should be returned to the Equality Unit before the October 21.
