Nostalgia: Beth hits the Radio Ulster airwaves

When 11 year old Beth Toner was voted the best primary school pupil in verse speaking at Portadown Festival in 1994 little did she think that her win would see her perform live for BBC Radio Ulster.

Beth was a guest on the Frankly Anne-Marie programme and recited her poem ‘Dear Mr Examiner’ live on air.

Anne-Marie McAleese spent five minutes talking to the St Brendan’s Primary School pupil before hearing her recite the four verses which won her the Charles Cox Challenge Cup.
