Not at court due to morning sickness

A young woman is going to plead guilty to shoplifting offences and an assault charge, Banbridge Magistrates Court was told last Thursday.

Her barrister said that Shanice Amy Mulready (24), Railway Street, Banbridgecould not attend court last week because of illness.

She is charged with the theft of a teddy bear, candles, wall stickers and a cushion cover belonging to Poundland on August 15 last year.

She is also accused of stealing goods worth £20.05 from Poundstretcher and common assault on a male on August 12 and the theft of cigarettes worth £7.99 on July 5 from Walsh’s Newsagents, Scarva Street, Banbridge.

Mulready was supposed to appear at last Thursday’s court but a barrister representing her said she had contacted his instructing solicitor saying she was ill.

He explained that she was pregnant and had morning sickness.

The lawyer indicated that she would be pleading guilty to the offences and asked for an adjournment adding that a pre-sentence report would probably be required.

The matters were adjourned until April 6.
