Karen will be travelling to Scotland in the near future, having been offered the chance to attend Redford Barracks in Edinburgh, to represent 1st (NI) Battalion Army Cadet Force at the annual Tri-Service Cadet Force Piping and Drumming Competitions.

This is the first time for a Cadet from 1st Battalion to appear at these competitions and Karen feels very honoured to not only be the first to represent her Battalion, but also to be given the chance to attend Redford Barracks as this is the Army School of Bagpipe Music.

All expenses i.e. travel/meals/accommodation etc. are being paid for by H.Q. 1st (NI) Battalion.

Karen said this is only one example of the opportunities available to young people in the Army Cadet Force.

She added that she would advise any young person who might be interested to go along to their local detachment and hear about ACF in detail.
