NRC 'Shooting Stars' celebrate success

THE achievements of Northern Regional College's further education students were recognised recently at a graduation ceremony at the Clarion Hotel, Carrickfergus.

For the first time, NRC presented ‘Shooting Star’ awards to those who recorded exceptional results during their course.

Of the 500 students graduating from NRC’s Further Education courses, 11 were awarded a ‘Shooting Star’, recognising the dedication shown to their studies and the distinctions they gained during the year from lecturers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director Trevor Neilands said: “At Northern Regional College we encourage all students to achieve their personal best and when we looked across the grades achieved by particular students’ staff felt it was right to recognize their exceptional efforts.

“The citations written by the tutors which you have heard highlights their dedication to their studies, their energy and enthusiasm, their class contribution and their willingness to work with their tutors. Many have now progressed to Higher Education within the Northern Regional College, have begun university courses or entered the world of work. We wish all our students every success.”

Guest speaker, Helen McKenna, from Clarity Business Education, congratulated all the students for their hard work during their courses.

Those graduating had completed courses in the faculties of Built Environment & Design; Engineering, Science, IT, Media & Performing Arts; Social Care, Early Years, Hair & Beauty & Access and Business, Hospitality & Catering, Travel & Tourism, and Sport & Essential Skills.
